How to use this gallery
An 8½-minute walkthrough for strategy students: how to read a company's business model canvas, check the evidence behind it, compare rivals, and use it in a strategic audit. Captions are on screen.
What the video covers
- Find a company. Browse or search the gallery by name, industry or tag, then open its canvas.
- Read the canvas. Headline numbers come with a source and a period. Then the nine blocks: value proposition, customer segments, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partners, cost structure. Each side panel has key points, how it connects to other blocks, and sources.
- Check the evidence. FACT means the company stated it (filings, releases, calls). SECONDARY means third-party press. INFERENCE is the site's own interpretation: treat it as an estimate and redo the math.
- Compare a rival. Put two canvases side by side (Starbucks and Chipotle): revenue streams, cost structure and margin, and which key resources are hard to copy. Watch for different fiscal years.
- Use the Money Map as lenses. How they earn (name the business model) · Rankings (scale, not market share) · Going global (how international it really is) · Growth vs profit (frame the story) · Playbooks (idea starters, not evidence).
- Put it to work. Pick your company and 2–3 rivals, pull evidence from the canvases, verify every number in the 10-K, then make your own calls: VRIO, SWOT, generic strategy, and recommendations tied to evidence.
- Not on the site: PESTEL, Five Forces and industry size. Use 10-K risk factors and industry reports for those.
